Interdisciplinary or intersticial?

Welcome to my cognitive footprint. I'm hoping to leave several. And I'm also hoping you will leave yours.
As the subtitle demonstrates, I am woefully unable to confine myself to one subject. It is true, of course, that the intellectual division of labor (i.e., the ever-increasing proliferation of disciplines) benefits from all the gains typical of specialization. And yet, at the same time, it is also clearly an artifice. That is, it would take little more than a rudimentary trip through the history of intellectual labor to see that the evolution of disciplines need not be such-and such; they could be otherwise.
I encourage visitors to poke, prod and, perhaps most important, look between, the boundaries between the disciplines. What lies in that space? What could lie there if the disciplines were constructed otherwise?

If you were to do a taxonomy of knowledge, what would your schema be? Or is a taxonomy even requisite for understanding?
